Introducing: Sports Therapy

Here at Balance 360, we want to be a reliable source of information, and advice for helping you to get back in balance.

Last time we shared everything there is to know about Indian Head Massage, and today we’re bringing you another key service of ours - Sports Therapy!

If you’ve got an upcoming appointment, or would simply like to know more about the service before booking, this is the post for you!

What is Sports Therapy?

Sports Therapy is a science based profession, specifically concerned with the prevention of injury and patient rehabilitation. Its purpose is to see the patient return to optimal levels of functional, occupational and sports specific fitness, regardless of their age and abilities!

Even if you’re not a sports person, we can help - the title is a bit of a misconception! We see and help a wide variety of people, from office workers to sports people, treating a whole spectrum of injuries.

What does it treat?

It can be used to treat any acute or chronic conditions that affect the muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints and nerves anywhere in the body. Anything from high impact sports injuries, through to back and shoulder injuries can be addressed and helped. In recent years, we’ve also helped a lot of people who have been working from home deal with their back pain!

So it is a good idea to come and see a sports therapist when you have been injured, whether that is through playing sports, or something simple as occupational back pain. If there’s any niggle that you’re unsure of how to solve yourself, it’s a good idea to book an appointment.

What does treatment consist of?

  • Trigger Point Therapy

  • Posture analysis

  • Gait and biomechanical analysis

  • Stretching: Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF), static and dynamic technique

  • Neuromuscular training

  • Peripheral and spinal joint mobilisations

  • Exercise rehabilitation

  • Deep tissue massage

  • Soft tissue release

  • Muscle activation using Muscle Energy Techniques (METs)

  • Taping and strapping

  • Corrective Frictions
